This didactic unit seeks the main aim of learn and be able to appreciate differencies and similarities between vertebrates and invertebrates animals.
It has been developed for Level 3 in Primary, within the subject of Natural Science.
The topic is setted for the first term.
It deals with animals.
So, we will focus on mammals and others. But the accent will be on the spine. It means, to be able to differenciate and classify vertebrates and invertebrates animals.

All the tasks in this Didactic Unit has been designed from an active point of view.Students must became in to the main character in their learning proccess.To achieve this goal, I´ve developed a set of activities in which their previous knowledge will be thestarting point for a new level of contents.NTI´s will also have a huge presence in the unit. With video watching, pre-video and post-video activities. Also games are avaiable for fast finishers.
Timing:
This Didactic Unit will be develop in six sessions.
In the first session we will focus on the previos knowledge. Through a worksheet, pair work and questions
and aswers.
After this we will do a second worksheet focus on the video content.
Then the students will watch the video and will take notes and will make some drawings.
In the third session we will supply more examples and possibilities to learn how to differenciate among
animals according to their inner characteristics.
In this point, they will be ready for a small project in small groups.
The project will deal with designing a pair of "X-Rays Glasses" which will let them to see inside the animals
in order to decide if they belong to the invertebrates or vertebrates gruop. We´ll need two sessions for that.
Finally, we´ll check their knowledge trough a fast questionary.
